What Does It Mean To Be A Christian Teen
in Today’s World?
In today's world, it's hard to know what to do with our lives as a Christian.
We are constantly bombarded with the stereotypes that the world throws at us
until we don't know any longer what is morally right or wrong. With all the
crazy standards the world has set up for us, it's difficult to know which is
God's way and which is the world's.
Here are some combined pointers from a teen study Bible and us about what it
means to be a Christian teen:
1) A Christian teen knows what they want.
They realize that because God designed them, only He can make them complete and
their life full, and only He can make them truly happy. (John 10:10)
2) A Christian teen guards their mind.
They avoid damaging images, lyrics, etc.
from today’s media, and fill their thoughts with what is pure and righteous
before God. (Philippians 4:8)
3) A Christian teen is willing to wait. They value their sexual purity, realizing that God’s plan is the only one that will keep them physically, mentally, and spiritually healthy. They also know that God will forgive them for their past, and they may have a new beginning in Him. (Psalm 1:1-3)
4) A Christian teen has genuine beauty/looks. They understand that
inner beauty is more important than outward looks. It is ok to take care of
yourself and present yourself in a good
manner, however, it should not be the main focus of your life. (Proverbs 31:30)
5) A Christian teen is true to
him/herself. They develop qualities of genuine character, such as love,
joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and
self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23)
6) A Christian teen looks for
leaders. They recognize leaders that follow God, both in the Bible and in the church and community. (Hebrews 13:7)
7) A Christian teen knows their worth.
They know that their personal value is based on who they are in Christ, rather than who the world says
they should be. (Psalm 139:13-16)
8) A Christian teen’s first love is Jesus. They know that only Jesus can
love them with the sincerity, passion, and deep love that can change how they
live their life. (1 John 3:1)
9) A Christian teen is a person of the
Word and not the world. They stay connected to God through reading the
Bible and stay rooted deep into Christ rather than the media. (Colossians
2:6-7)
10) A Christian teen gives away their faith and does not keep it locked on the inside. They understand that the secret to eternal life is Jesus; they share the knowledge of the saving grace of Jesus Christ with others. (Galatians 6:9)
11) A Christian teen knows they are never alone. They seek fellowship
with other Christians, and help each other in their daily walk with Christ.
(Romans 12:4-5)
12) A Christian teen makes a statement. They show that they are Christians not through what they say or do -but by who
they are and how they live. (Matthew 10:39)
And don’t forget, a Christian teen knows that they can be forgiven from their sins, big or small. After repenting, they are free from guilt, because their sins have been washed away by the blood of the Lamb. (Romans 6:14)
